Pierced and Powerful

Hi all; hope you're all doing well! I've been looking for inspiration for my artwork and one element that I've noticed that I have been consistently using in my paintings are piercings! I hadn't realized, consciously anyways, that I invariably paint my female characters with piercings (usually wearing a cartilage/ nose piercing of some sort). I suppose it's because I see piercings as something empowering in a way. People are often pressurized into conforming and as most of us have 9- 5 type jobs - which require adopting a certain 'professional' dress code' - we tend to refrain from pursuing a look that is unique and that shows our individuality. I personally love dying my hair and sometimes wish I could dye it blue or purple! However, I just don't feel it would go down very well with my boss...Piercings, on the other hand, allow us to have a certain degree of flexibility as you can remove them if you want and can always cover the marks/ holes with make- up. The ones from Fresh Trends for example tend to be quite discreet and that's so cool as you can remove them when you go to work (and therefore conform with the professional look required) and then put them back on when you get home. This degree of flexibility is empowering and gives you a choice - and who doesn't like the freedom to make choices? I know I do.

Colourful stuff and my instagram!

Hi all! Hope you're all doing great and enjoying your Sunday wherever you are! I've been meaning to update this space for the past couple of weeks but it's been a little manic! But it's all good with me and it was actually manic but in an awesome way. I'm not going to bore you with work- related stuff but I'm going to be doing something more exciting soon and it's always nice to see when you're recognised for doing stuff well :)

Oh, and I now have an instagram account! How could I forget to mention it? Silly me! Please feel free to visit and follow me on my insta- space:

Anyways, I'd like to share some of my latest artwork and unlike the post below, this new batch is actually quite colourful! I loooove colour and using colours in my artwork. I like producing more 'gothy' things too but I suppose it largely depends on my mood. So here it goes, hope you guys like it!

Moody Art

I made this painting a while back using carbon, acrylic paint, black ink pen, and pencil. Back then I was trying to find my style and found all art in black & white quite fascinating. I still love twirls and the whole moody thing although I tend to have a lot more colour in my art nowadays.

Hello again!

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I posted anything here, I know. A lot has happened in the past year or so and due to feeling stressed at work and other things, I just didn't find the motivation to write posts and keep this space updated. I'm sorry I wasn't here and that I didn't keep in touch properly with you guys. I hope I can make it up to you and that we can pick up where we left off! I've been busy lately producing artwork and trying to have a healthier lifestyle as I have been diagnosed with IBS and needed to improve the quality of my food intake and have a less stressful life in general. I tried cutting out different things off my diet and found that not eating red meat or poultry really helped. I've been a vegetarian/ pescaterian since the beginning of the year and haven't looked back!! I feel I have a lot more energy, don't get bloated like I used to and don't get the annoying stomach cramps as often, which is a huge improvement. Stress does set it off so I try to stay calm, enjoy life and just take things easy. It's easier said than done but hey, you gotta try it and the key is to be consistent!

I have also been allowing myself to do the things that I love, which means drawing, painting, and cooking. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed doing creative things and it's so easy to live a busy life, focused solely on work and on business. I'm the kind of person who's driven and likes to 'get things done'; I normally try to overachieve my targets and I take pride in doing a good job. I used to think that I wanted to go far career- wise and that was actually all I thought about until I realised that feeling stressed about my career all the time isn't fun or healthy for that matter. I do believe that it's possible to be a high achiever and a creative individual at the same time, I just have to find the right balance and I hope that's how I will do things moving forwards. I'd like to share a recent drawing that I made, hope you guys like it.

Get the Look for Less: Charlotte Free

Charlotte is definitely one of the biggest ‘it girls’ right now. What, you haven’t heard of her? OK, she may not be obviously pretty like Olivia Palermo or quirky- cute like Alexa Chung but Miss Free is a memorable gal and has helped turn multicoloured hair totally cool again. Who would have thought a pink haired model would be cast in major fashion campaigns and open/ close many big catwalk shows for the past few seasons? Cara is the one fronting the magazines now, granted, but Charlotte is the one you’ll remember. Here is how to get her look for less:

Charlotte Free bicolor hair

Charlotte Free fashion style

Charlotte Free military shirt

Charlotte Free t-shirt

Charlotte is a big fan of t-shirts (with rock band logos, iconic images or tie- dye prints). This one by Asos would probably be approved by Miss Free (£20):

Charlotte loves the military trend! The following Topshop coat is very Charlotte- esque (£55):

Miss Free is usually spotted in skinny jeans; the following pair from Asos would suit
her style perfectly (£30):

Bleach wash jeans

Accessories- wise, Charlotte normally goes for striking colours and unusual styles like the following handbag (£8.50):

To complete the look, why not go for a pierced navel or eyebrow? Freshtrends have some pretty cool styles, like the following one ($27.09):

Do you guys like Charlotte’s style?
